Homemade Strawberry Shortcake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 48 OZ Strawberries, Sliced
  • ¾ Cup Brown Sugar (Substitute Sugar)
Shortcake Dry Ingredients:
  • 4 Cups Flour
  • 5 TBSP Baking Powder
  • 3 TBSP Brown Sugar
  • Pinch of Salt
Wet Ingredients:
  • 1¼ Cup Butter, chilled and sliced
  • 1 Pint Heavy Whipping Cream
Topping:
  • Stick of Butter Melted
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees
  2. Pulverize ½ - 1 Cup of strawberries with immersion blender or in blender
  3. In bowl combine strawberries and brown sugar
  4. Add strawberry sauce and mix to combine
  5. Cover and refrigerate
  6. In bowl combine flour and baking powder
  7. Mix to combine
  8. Add brown sugar and mix to combine
  9. Add pinch of salt and mix to combine
  10. Add chilled butter and combine with hands
  11. Gradually add cream and combine with hands until all cream is added
  12. Roll dough out on rolling board (lightly floured)
  13. Butter 13½ inch baking dish
  14. Dough should be roughly 1 inch thick and place into dish
  15. Coat / wash dough with melted butter
  16. Bake for 15 minutes (Adjust for your oven and location)
  17. Let cool, cut and serve
  18. Top shortcake with glazed strawberries and optional whipped cream
