Here’s a great holiday treat to make with the children! These Christmas Rice Krispie Treats are extremely easy to make and a fun Christmas treat. My wife usually makes homemade Rice Krispies Treats every year for the holidays and my kids love to help!
In this recipe, I wanted to really give it a Christmas feel, so we use food coloring to add the colors of the holiday season. We then kick it up a notch with red & green M&M’s! Go easy on the M&M’s though. We want the Rice Krispie treats to be the star and the chocolate to be an accent.
Following the standard Rice Krispie treat recipe, we add the food coloring to the melted marshmallows and top the treats before they set with the red & green M&M’s. They remind me of little holiday ornaments. Yummy, chocolate ornaments that I can eat!
I enjoyed working with my three-year-old while making this recipe and I’m sure he did too! My other toddler added his assistance by being my professional taste tester. They were a hit with him, and I’m sure they will be for you too!
Gather your children and make a batch or two of these delicious, made from scratch Christmas Rice Krispie treats! I hope you enjoy it! Looking for more Christmas sweets and recipes? Try these:
