This homemade apple pie recipe brings back memories of my childhood, baseball and everything that made growing up in the Midwest great!
One of the things I miss most about living back home in Ohio is the change of seasons. Fall is absolutely beautiful in the Midwest. And there is nothing more fun for a kid than going to the orchards and picking apples in October. And the best treat of all is getting the best apple pie made from scratch with those fresh apples!

Easy Apple Pie Recipe: How To Make Homemade Apple Pie
- 2TBSP olive oil
- 6TBSP dark brown sugar
- 1 TBSP cinnamon
- 6 granny smith apples (peel, core, slice)
- 2.5 cups – all-purpose flour
- 0.5 TSP salt
- 2 cold sticks of butter
- 1 cup ice water
- Combine olive oil, cinnamon and sugar in pot over medium heat, for a couple minutes
- Add apples and bring up to temp for couple minutes
- Lower heat and simmer until soft
- Blend to make it more bite size
- Combine salt and flour in mixing bowl
- Add cold butter to flour salt mixture
- Once crumbles form gradually add water, we used ½ cup water
- Wrap in plastic wrap and chill dough for a couple hours
- Roll chilled dough to ¼ inch thick, roughly
- Place in pie tin
- Add filling
- Cut remaining dough into lattice strips
- Place strips one at a time crisscrossing as you go.
- Combine 1 egg white with splash of water and brush onto pie crust top. Sprinkle granulated sugar.
- Place on cookie sheet.
- Bake 40 minutes at 425 degrees let cool for five to ten minutes.
