When I think of a good Spring or Summer dessert, strawberry shortcake immediately comes to mind. Strawberries are in season and it’s just a light and fluffy dessert. It just melts in your mouth!
You can of course go to the store and get one of the prepackaged shortcakes, but there’s nothing better than a delicious strawberry shortcake made from scratch!

Homemade Strawberry Shortcake Recipe: Strawberry Shortcake Made From Scratch
- 48 OZ Strawberries, Sliced
- ¾ Cup Brown Sugar (Substitute Sugar)
- 4 Cups Flour
- 5 TBSP Baking Powder
- 3 TBSP Brown Sugar
- Pinch of Salt
- 1¼ Cup Butter, chilled and sliced
- 1 Pint Heavy Whipping Cream
- Stick of Butter Melted
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees
- Pulverize ½ - 1 Cup of strawberries with immersion blender or in blender
- In bowl combine strawberries and brown sugar
- Add strawberry sauce and mix to combine
- Cover and refrigerate
- In bowl combine flour and baking powder
- Mix to combine
- Add brown sugar and mix to combine
- Add pinch of salt and mix to combine
- Add chilled butter and combine with hands
- Gradually add cream and combine with hands until all cream is added
- Roll dough out on rolling board (lightly floured)
- Butter 13½ inch baking dish
- Dough should be roughly 1 inch thick and place into dish
- Coat / wash dough with melted butter
- Bake for 15 minutes (Adjust for your oven and location)
- Let cool, cut and serve
- Top shortcake with glazed strawberries and optional whipped cream
