It took me awhile to get into the Instant Pot craze. I had so many kitchen appliances already, I just couldn’t imagine adding yet another one to the mix. I’ve got 4 crockpots alone that I’m trying to deal with!
However, my wife convinced me that we could not live another day without the Instant Pot and that I needed to get on board and start doing some recipes with it. So I finally bought one (the Instant Pot Ultra). I now wonder why I waited! It’s pretty darn awesome!
If you’re new to the electric pressure cooker thing, one of the easiest ways to get started is with a simple rice recipe. For this white rice recipe, I use Calrose medium grain rice.
Now, the Instant Pot does cook things quickly, but you need to be aware of the warm up time when calculating the time it will take to cook your food. I set the time on manual to 6 minutes for this rice, but it took about 5-7 minutes to get to the pressure cooking stage. So just be aware that when a recipe says it takes a certain amount of time to cook, that it will actually be a bit longer in total.
