Sometimes you just want a dessert without all the time and effort. That’s where this cake in a jar recipe comes in! All you need for this microwave mug cake recipe is a few minutes (and ingredients), a mason jar (or mug if you prefer) and a microwave!
I made these mug cakes in two different flavors, Funfetti and Chocolate (with a little bit of caramel thrown in). Frankly, I couldn’t choose just one that day! Call me greedy! You can make your favorite out of the two or make both like I did.
No eggs are needed for this dessert and just 70 seconds in the microwave. In 1 minute, you’ve just made a cake in a jar! A quick and easy microwave recipe that will have you digging in in no time!

Easy Microwave Mug Cake: 1 Minute Chocolate and Vanilla (Funfetti) Mug Cake Recipes
- 3 TBSP All Purpose Flour, per Cake
- 3 TBSP Granulated Sugar, per Cake
- ¼ TSP Baking Powder, per Cake
- 2 TBSP Cocoa Powder, Unsweetened
- 2 Caramels
- 1 TSP Vanilla Extract
- 1 TSP Sprinkles
- 3 TBSP Milk, per Cake
- 3 TBSP Canola Oil, per Cake
- Combine dry ingredients for each flavor in a separate mug or mason jar; mix
- Add chocolate or confetti ingredients to each mug or mason jar; mix
- Add wet ingredients to each mug or mason jar; mix
- Put each mug or mason jar in microwave one at a time; 70 seconds on high for each
- Serve and enjoy
