Frito pie is a crunchy, cheesy classic that’s big in the south. The first time I tried this dish was during my time living in Texas and I figured out what the fuss was about.
The name of this dish varies between Frito Pie and Frito casserole. A commenter on my Mr. B Cooks YouTube cooking channel asked “So is it a pie or a casserole? Pie has a crust so I don’t know why people call Frito Pie a pie.” Even though this doesn’t have a crust (i.e. a pie) it’s cooked in a skillet and scooped like a slice of pie. I don’t worry too much about the name. It’s all about the taste!
I promise the little ones will love this too. Corn, cheese, ground beef… Yummy! Adding Fritos to the mix just seals the deal as a great meal and an easy dinner recipe for the whole family!
